MANY NEWPORT NEWS FC TEAMS EXCEL IN LEAGUE PLAY

At the midpoint of the Fall 2009 league season, many Newport News FC teams are poised to finish on top or near the top of their respective age levels. Kudos goes out to the U18 Phoenix, the U15 Diamonds and the U14 Hotspurs who are each are sitting in first place in their divisions. Other Newport News FC teams in the running of claiming league championships include, the U18 United, U18 Braves and the U13 Pride. Congratulations to each of these teams and good luck the rest of the season. Remember winning games isn't as important as learning especially at the younger age levels since it takes at least two seasons for teams to learn to play well together.

This year all U10 through U14 teams will participate in the Busch Gardens Soccer Classic. During the past 4 years this tournament has become one of the top tournaments in the State of Virginia, drawing as many as 90 teams for our two-day tournament and with teams from as far away as Canada and Arizona participating over the years. This year we are approaching 60 teams and anticipate a wonderful weekend of soccer and quality competition for all. We want to thank Busch Gardens Williamsburg for their generous support of this tournament over the past 4 years.
