ROSTER POSITIONS AVAILABLE FOR U13 AND U14 GIRL'S TEAMS

Newport News FC has extended tryouts for the U13 Mariners and the U14 Mystx. Both will play in the upcoming Spring Season. Parents of interested players can contact Al Cousineau, Director of Coaching, at doc@newportnewsfc.com to schedule a tryout.


ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD MAY 1ST!

The second annual "Swings for Soccer" Golf Tournament is scheduled for May 1, 2009, Deer Run Championship Course, at Deer Run in Newport News. The Committee is searching for volunteers, sponsors and teams to make this tournament the best one yet.


INDOOR SOCCER (FUTSAL) SEASON PROVES TO DEVELOP PLAYERS DURING THE OFF SEASON

All Newport News FC Travel teams are invited to participate in the Newport News Parks and Recreation sponsored Futsal League. The league provides our teams with the opportunity to continue learning and developing over the winter months. Games schedules can be found online by visiting ETeamz Futsal.

SPRING 2009 ACADEMY PROGRAMS REGISTRATION NOW OPEN TO PLAYERS AGES 4-14

The Newport News FC Academy programs have been recognized as some of the finest in the area. Over the past year, the Academy Program was expanded to include a Junior Academy Program for players 4-6 and an Advanced Academy for players 11-14 with the desire to receive professional training prior to annual tryouts. BUSCH GARDENS SPRING SOCCER SHOOTOUT

Plans are underway for our club hosted Spring Soccer Shootout which now includes a College Showcase Program.


VELOCITY PARTNERSHIP TO PROVIDE NNFC PLAYERS THE COMPETITIVE EDGE

Newport News FC teams and players will now get the opportunity to participate in free training at Velocity Sports Center. Under the terms of the partnership all Newport News FC teams will participate in team training and have the opportunity to sign up for individual training sessions as a result of the partnership.

PRE-TRYOUT MINI-CAMP FREE FOR ALL HIGH SCHOOL BOUND PLAYERS

Newport News FC is sponsoring a free pre-high school tryout mini camp February 17-19th at Sanford Elementary. All players are welcome and should bring a ball and come prepared to play. Pre-registration is required and can be done by visiting the NNFC Camps Page on our website.

HAMPTON ROADS INDOOR SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIPS A HUGE SUCCESS

Under the leadership of our new Tournament Director, Chris Moller, the Hampton Roads Indoor Soccer Championship Tournament Series is off to one of its best starts in recent years. As a result of Chris' efforts, more club teams are now participating. Venues have changed along with a true Futsal Format that has players and parents praising the program. To date, the U11 Champions were from Old Dominion Soccer Club.

NEWPORT NEWS FC TO HOLD SPRING TRYOUTS

Newport News FC Travel Soccer Club is holding tryouts for openings on several U10-U14 Boys and Girl's Travel Teams. Tryouts will be held January 20th-January 22nd at Sanford Elementary in Newport News. Online registration is available on the club web site or by clicking here. If a player misses the scheduled tryouts they can contact our Director of Coaching at doc@newportnewsfc.com to schedule one. Tryouts for the upcoming season close February 15.

FIVE NEWPORT NEWS FC TRAVEL SOCCER CLUB TEAMS
FINISH SEASON AS CHAMPIONS

The Virginia Soccer League, one of the largest travel only leagues in the state of Virginia, recently ended their Fall 2008 outdoor season with several Newport News FC Traveling soccer teams finishing as League Champions.

In all, 5 Newport News FC Travel Soccer Club teams claimed League Championships in their respective competition divisions. Of the five NNFC teams to win league Championships, two were all girls teams.

The U18 Phoenix coached by Justin Chesim finished undefeated with a record of 7 wins and 1 tie, scoring 22 goals and allowing 5. The U14 Diamonds, coached by Rob Webb, finished a perfect 8-0 scoring 23 goals and allowing only 1 goal all season. On the boys side, The U14 Predators, coached by Randolph Scott, finished 7-1-0, scoring 28 goals and allowing 7, the U16 Storm, coached by Ed Timas, finished 6-2-0 scoring 34 goals and allowing 12 and the U17 United, coached by George Dreybus, finished 6-1-1 with 21 goals for and 9 against.

The Virginia Soccer League is sanctioned under the Virginia Youth Soccer Association and the United States Youth Soccer Association.
