Newport News FC is pleased to invite your team to apply to the Virginia Colonial Soccer Shootout & College Shootout held March 13 & 14, 2010. Yes, our name changed to reflect the history of the area as we are playing close to Yorktown.

All tournament games will be played on the newly opened York County Sports Complex. The York County Sports Complex features 13 lighted athletic fields including: 2 Instructional Soccer Fields, 4 Regulation Soccer Fields, 5 Youth Baseball/Softball Fields, 1 Adult Softball Field, and 1 Adult Baseball Field.

Park amenities include 3 concession/restroom buildings, playgrounds, 31 picnic shelters, vending machines, over 2 miles of multipurpose paths, and bike lane. The park can accommodate over 900 vehicles.

General Tournament Information

  • Boys and Girls Teams U10 - U19

FORMAT - Teams are guaranteed a minimum of three games with all finals played on Sunday.

COMPETITION - The tournament offers divisions for:

  • Age Level Placement based on 2009-2010 Official Rosters.

Based on age groups for 2009-2010:

  • U10-U11 will play 7v7 and may have a maximum roster 14 with up to 5 guest players.
  • U12 will play 8v8 and may have a maximum roster of 18 with up to 5 guest players.
  • U13-U16 will play 11v11 and may have a maximum roster of 18 with up to 5 guest players.
  • U17-U19 will play 11v11 and may have a maximum roster of 22 with up to 5 guest players.

ELIGIBILITY - This is a VYSA Sanctioned Event and open to all Premier, Classic and Challenge level teams including AYSO teams.

AWARDS - Individual player awards and team awards will be presented to the first and second place teams in each division.

Important Information:

REFEREES - A USSF three man system will be used whenever possible (except for U10-U11) and for all matches in the U12 age group and up, as well as all semi-finals and finals.

LODGING - To ensure your team quality accommodations, CSTT Sports will serve as the official Hospitality Service for the tournament. All teams are required to book any hotel reservations through CSTT Sports to ensure the best tournament experience from start to finish. Upon final acceptance, CSTT Sports staff will contact the team POC to assist in your hotel accommodations. Please visit the CSTT Sports link at Hotels List at "Hotels". Hotels are updated regularly as hotels are added to the list.

REGISTRATION - Registration will take place Friday, March 12, 2010 from 5:00 - 9:00 pm at the Newport News Marriott located at 740 Town Center Drive Newport News VA 23606. At registration your team must submit 2 copies of their current state approved roster, valid player passes, permission to travel (if applicable) and medical release forms (notary not required). Your current league/club medical release forms are acceptable.

GUEST PLAYERS - Every team is allowed to bring up to 5 guest players with them. There are no special forms for guest players, simply write the player's name and information on a COPY (not original) of your roster to be turned in a registration. Guest players must also have valid player pass and medical release form.

DEADLINE - February 21, 2010 - Mailed applications without application fee will not be accepted. Faxed and Emailed Applications can not be accepted. Online registrations submitted without a check by the deadline will be placed on the waiting list.

NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE - Acceptance Notices will be E-mailed as our tournament committee receives your team's application and the tournament fee. Registration fees are due within 10 days of submitting application. The tournament committee strongly suggests early registration to ensure selection. If your team is not accepted, a refund check will be mailed after March 16, 2010. (If a team drops for any reason after acceptance is confirmed, all fees are forfeited.) A $50.00 charge will be assessed for any returned checks.

SCHEDULE - To accommodate late registrations, schedules will be posted by March 1, 2010.

CLUB DISCOUNTS - We offer clubs bringing 5 teams or more a discount on registration fees. If this may pertain to your team/club, please notify the Tournament Director before sending in any registration fees.
